Change is in the Air...

outsourcing journal changes As the new Managing Editor of InfoServer, I'd like to introduce some changes you'll be seeing in this and future issues. We're first going to expand the scope of discussion from just outsourcing to sourcing in general, meaning systems integration, supply chain management, HR, facilities sourcing relationships, and other areas.

Secondly, we hope to develop a balance by presenting a forum for three distinct voices: the first voice will be that of the customer. In this light, we have chosen to redirect our awards in this issue to focus more on high value relationships rather than awards for specific suppliers. We will follow this up with more emphasis on specific customer relationships and customer articles. The second voice is the supplier. We believe that the supplier has an important view in helping us understand where the industry is going and how they perceive value can be created.

The third voice is from the advisory community. This is made up of analysts, attorneys, benchmarking companies and consultants. We believe these parties can provide an objective voice and help us gain insight into essential areas of value creation as well as potential pitfalls. Suppliers have a dominant voice this time because they are the traditional voices of the Forecast/Awards issue. I'd also like to introduce some new columns that will regularly appear in future issues. One is the COMPASS America column. They will be sharing information based on facts gathered from their data-base in and around sourcing issues. You'll also see a regular Human Resource column dealing with the issues generated when personnel are transferred from the customer's to the supplier's staff.

Finally, we will be expanding the editor's column to provide more analysis and input. I hope you enjoy our new focus on bringing you away from the gossip with even more substance and value. Your comments are welcome via e-mail at info@outsourcing-journal.com.
